It keeps the current lower than you’d get with 230V. Less current means less stress on the wiring and a tighter grip on voltage drop. But here’s the part people underestimate: the surface. A fingerprint. A smear of grease. Even a tiny trace of contamination can create a hot spot. That hot spot makes the quartz expand unevenly, which stresses the material and can lead to cracking or burn-out. Keep it clean, and you protect the output—and the lifespan. We also spec the contacts to match the power and the mounting. The right connector type keeps the lamp seated securely and holds resistance low at the joints. Bad contact equals arcing, heat building up at the ends, and failures that show up way too soon.
Real-World Use: Where It Shines and What It Demands
In the field, this lamp is the go-to when you need fast, focused heating—think UV curing lines, coating lines, and similar processes. The 5kW output at 400V gives you the heat you need without overloading the wiring, but it does require planning. You get a lot of intensity, and that means your machine’s airflow and thermal management have to be sized for the job. If the surrounding components run too hot, reliability starts to slip. So here’s the installation rule that matters: never touch the quartz tube with bare hands. Clean the lamp only with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Keep the ends clean, align the contacts, and torque everything to spec. Do that, and the lamp behaves predictably—day after day.
